No to Domestice Violence Against Women and Children

Today is the Int'l Day Campaign Against Domestic Violence of Women and Children. I heard it over the radio. Well, the painful reality is, despite of laws against domestic violence of women and children, there are still millions out there suffering from this abuse. There are many kinds of violence, there is physical which is visible through swollen face and wounds, but there is a an emotional violence which will leave deep and lasting scars and traumatizing. I think there is no more painful than being abused emotionally. Women and children most of the time, suffer from this kind of abuse and they just keep silent about it. The sad answer when you ask them "why?", they just answer you "I have no choice..."

I feel sad every time I hear a story about a mother or a wife being beaten by her husband, a child insulted by her/his parent. If violence start in our home, there will be no safe place to live in the future. Everybody will live with hatred and vengeance.

And it is great to know that there are group of people who never get tired in campaigning and doing everything to make these violence come to an end.

What are the different acts of violence.

1. Physical violence – acts that include bodily or physical harm;

2.Sexual violence – acts which are sexual in nature;

3.Psychological violence - commission or omission of acts which cause mental or emotional suffering of the victim;

4. Economic abuse – acts that make a woman financially dependent on the offender.

Who are protected under the law?

1.Wife or former wife of the offender;

2.Woman with whom the offender has or had a dating or sexual relationship;

3.The mother of the child of the offender;

4.The child, whether legitimate or illegitimate of the woman.

Who are punished by the law?

The following are liable:

1.Husbands or former husbands;

2.Any person with whom the victim has or had a sexual or dating relationship (e.g. boyfriends, live-in partners, or lesbian partners);

3.Any person with whom the victim has a common child;

4.Father of the child-victim

I found these lists in Sen. Pia Cayetano's website. She is one of the most active in this campaign even travel in different places around the country and participating in more countries to campaign and spread awareness of the necessary things we should be aware of. Lets be a part of these, lets make our home the safest place.

Great Weekend!!

Yesterday was a blast! I finally watched New Moon movie. Everything went great, even though we got to wait in line for almost an hour just to buy ticket... its a bad idea not to get reserved one (lesson learned). What really made me so happy, that I laugh the whole time, was every time Jacob appeared in the scene half naked and the time when he take odd his shirt, there goes the screaming crowd! The cinema turned out to be a live concert hall. And of course Edward theme swooned when the couple kissed. Gosh, people got so gaga with that 8 packed werewolf. Well, its a great one for the whole casts, they really did a great job. And I must say, New Moon is better than the first, not that the first one sucks... I mean everything improved as well as the screen color, they are not so pale and the movie didn't go far from what is in the book.

And the good news is according to the Associated Press, the Twilight Saga: New Moon took in $72.7 million on opening day--this is just in US and Canada.
Vampires and werewolves have vanquished a dark knight. “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” took in $72.7 million in its first day to break the single day domestic box office record previously held by “The Dark Knight,” which had a $67.2 million opening day last year.The Friday haul for the “Twilight” sequel includes a record $26.3 million from midnight screenings alone.

If “New Moon” maintains its pace, it might have a shot at the all-time best opening weekend record of $158.4 million, also held by “The Dark Knight.”

Hurry and congrats to the New Moon casts as well as to its director Chris Weitz. They've done a good job. And I am eagerly and almost impatiently waiting for the third movie sequel Twilight Saga - Eclipse.

I want to squeeze this in, its a hilarious video of Taylor Lautner - Jacob Black, interview in Late Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Taylor raced with the host using mini bikes and he bumped to the wall, dragging his mic and oh, he cheated Jimmy, end up winning the race!

Google Will Have Its Own OS

Google is developing a Chrome Operating System, will eventually be launch by the middle of 2010. This will be a competitive OS, for it is designed for small, low-cost netbooks as well as for PCs. The key aspects are "speed and simplicity and security".

The operating system, which will run on an open source licence, was a "natural extension" of its Chrome browser. The OS will be fast and lightweight and will get you to web in a few seconds, as the firm said. They are redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don't have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates.

Well, this certainly will play a big role in the market, and still there is this big player around--Microsoft. Anyhow, this will be a great OS for everybody. I'm using Chrome and I like its features as well as the themes. This one I assume will be great.

New Prehistoric Crocs Was Discovered

I spent the whole afternoon reading some great facts about our nature. I have this big interest in the science thing, in fact I am a fan of Nat Geo Channel and its Magazine. God gave us the wonders of nature that we enjoy but now sadly to say, we are destroying it. As part of knowing everything around us, we have to dig and find out what it looks like way before human rule the earth. Millions of years had past, and its good to know that we are able to find pieces of bones and fossils that will unswer our questions to figure out what they look like.

One of the contributor who continue to discover things hidden underneath our land is National Geographic Team. This news is just recent--Paul Sereno, Paleontologist, University of Chicago and his team from Nat Geo, had discovered almost half a dozen fossilized remains of new species of crocs. The team tried to assembled it to see what they might look like.

The first is 20-feet long, has a triple fanged reptile dubbed Boar Croc - could gallop and it had a head and mouth that could bring down a dinosaur.

Second, Little duck croc - flat-billed with long-sleek leg bones and about 3-feet long.

Third, Pancake Croc - 20 feet long with a thin, 3-foot long set of jaws.

Fourth, Dog Croc - about 3-feet long and had a very large forebrain, possibly indicating higher intelligence, probably comfortable on land as in the water

Last, Rat Croc was about 3-feet long with a pair of buckteeth in the lower jaw to flesh out small prey.

Wow, life is tough when these guys rule the whole land. No sympathy and apathy what matter is eat, not be eaten and survive...

Manny Pacquiao Win Over Miguel Cotto

Today is an important day, all the Filipinos around the world once again united to support the fight of our very own Manny Pacquiao versus Miguel Coto. And it was another dominating fight knocking down Cotto twice, and turning Coto's face into a bloody mess before finally stopping him at 55 seconds of the 12th round.

This win is his seventh title in seven weight classes and He is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world! We are so proud of him for bringing honor to the Philippines. In fact as everybody expected, I'm sure today is a zero crime day... Everybody watched Manny's fight.

What I love about this month, is lots of great movies are showing-- This Is It, 2012 and most of all, the one I've been waiting for... New Moon Movie! I am wishing to drag the days so that it will be November soon. And thank God it is November! In this movie, it is Jacob's turn... I can't wait to see how Jacob transform from a weird hair dude to short clean cut hunk werewolf. I love to see the wolf pack running shirtless... hehe! well, its the nature of werewolf, they are warm so they don't need to wear clothes and it will be ripped out when they transform. One thing I am also fascinated with the story is how the werewolf find their mate. It is called soulmate.

I also have here the teaser movie poster of the next movie sequel of Twilight Saga - Eclipse. The casts are almost halfway finish filming the movie and if I am not mistaken it will be released as early as July 2010.

The 3 primary casts (Robert Pattinson - Edward Cullen, Kristen Stewart - Bella Swan, Taylor Lautner - Jacob Black) are busy promoting the movie like Brazil, Paris and London. I hope they will come here.

Don'ts for Credit Card Holders

Credit card is my life saver.... I can buy the things I need even when I run out of cash. That is why credit card is so important. Especially this Christmas, everybody is busy shopping gifts and stuff for the holiday. But yeah, it is so easy to swipe the card but when the bills arrive, it can make your head crack like an egg shell.

I have few things to follow that can make me a "good" credit card user, I read an article a while ago and let me share this to you. This is actually came from Susan McCarthy, a financial adviser in Oklahoma City and author of The Value of Money.

*4 things you should never do with your credit cards*

1. Don't make only the minimum payments. This stretches out your payment and, thanks to the interest, significantly increases your overall cost.

2. Don't carry too many cards. Multiple cards make it easier to rack up debt because it's harder to keep track of your spending. Having lots of cards isn't necessarily bad for your credit, but misusing them is. So limit your plastic to two national cards (store cards often carry higher interest rates) that you manage carefully.

3. Don't miss payment due dates. Not only will you be hit with a late fee-as high as $39 on some cards-but your interest rate could also jump. Sign up for online banking or pay over the phone if you're up against the deadline. (You may pay a processing fee, but it will probably be less than the late fee and the possible interest-rate hike.)

4. Don't take cash advances. These advances generally come with sky-high interest rates and service fees, making them a far too expensive way to get cash. Avoid at all costs.

Well, its so basic and most of us do the opposite of these, and end up in large amount of bills to pay, then headache eventually follow...

Ikee - First iPhone Worm

There is a news that some iPhone users suddenly had their iPhone wallpaper changed into a picture of '80s singer Rick Astley with the words "Ikee is never gonna give you up"? It is actually a worm known as Ikee, the very first virus created for iPhones. Well, its not that bad because it is not destructive and does not compromise any data contained on the iPhone, but its still a virus… Ikee was developed in Australia and it has not spread beyond Australia.

Ikee can infect only iPhones that have been unlocked and IPhones purchased through regular channels on a plan with an authorized SIM are not at risk. By the way, Ikee’s creator is also the one who created worm on Twitter under the name Ikeeex.

Direct TV Rocks!

We are so lucky living in the comfort of high technology. We can spend the rest of our day-off in front of that big screen television watching our favorite tv programs. But, we are not just satisfied on the programs that we watch; we aim to have surround sound systems, high definition, more channels to choose and so forth...

In June 17, 1994, DirectTV was lunched, and we owe it to Stanley S. Hubbard, He was a leading proponent for the development of direct broadcast satellite service (DBS) in the United States. After that, it evolved to enable the building of very high power satellites and allowed multiple digital television channels to be sent through each satellite frequency. That is how we now enjoy watching the late night shows, sports shows and even the movies that we love in our television screens!

Basically DirectTV is a very good option for everybody, especially those who are living in the places where there are no cable providers. And the thing that will really amaze you is, it offers more channels or even hundreds of digital channels to watch and enjoy. It is ready to go -- DirectTV is 100% digital. And because it lie in HDTV and DVR systems, it is high definition and allows a much larger resolution for viewing, as well as enhanced surround sound. At a resolution of 1280x1080 content is 2-5 times sharper on television sets. If you have a quality digital television set this will replace your need for an HD player or Playstation 3 as you can watch classic movies and new releases on satellite TV. DirectTV has affordable packages that is mostly the options of more customers around the world.

As DirectTV has special offers and packages to choose, and yes, we are so thankful for this. As for me, I don't have to spend my weekend, staring at my white ceiling. I'll spend it in front of my TV screen, with popcorn in my hands. I love movie marathon on Sundays!

2012

Is this how our world is going to end? I watched this video several times – 2012 movie, and it gives me the creeps. When I close my eyes to sleep, the scenes play in my mind…

From the early civilizations to Nostradamus, there is a prediction on when and how our world will going to end. Yes, there is an end for everything, but it is a mystery when its gonna happen.

Our planet is sick, just like a sick old man who have a chronic disease that no matter what the people around him do to cure him, its getting worse every single day and he is facing death soon.

Would you agree if I say, we are the worst species? Why did I say so? Because we are the biggest contributor in destroying our own place. And the payback is just around the corner, waiting for the perfect time to surprise us.

Hmmm… one thing is sure, when the last day comes; it will be the most horrible thing anyone could imagine, its inevitable. No one will survive whatever you believe in and where ever you are, even the tiniest insect will perish.

Are you ready? Oh, I think we will never be ready…
