First Case of H1N1 in the Philippines

The Department of Health confirmed tonight the first case of Influenza A H1N1. A female traveller from Canada arrived last May 18 and she suffered from fever, sore throat and cough.

She is being monitored, treated, and took antiviral, Oseltamivir. Now, she has no fever and cough but still have sore throat.

DOH stressed out that there is no outbreak here in the country and they are prepared for this. The stock of Oseltamivir is sufficient. DOH has already notified the International Health Regulations (IHR) and will submit its official report in immediately. Influenza A (H1N1) is currently affecting 41 other countries with 11,034 cases and 85 deaths.

It is advised that if a passenger arrived from affected country and develop flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat and cough, it is best to immediately consult a medical professional.

Swine Flu Reached Asia

Swine Flu had reached Asia, that is what I've heard in the news. A Mexican passenger, arrived in Hongkong last Thursday was positive of H1N1 flu. He was rushed in the hospital and was said in a stable condition.

Well, I'm thinking about the people with Him on the plane. The virus is so fast that one sneeze from an infected person, it will transfer to the people near him/her. The epidemic started just last month and hundreds are killed in Mexico and there are also in US, Canada, Israel and New Zealand. It also reached Europe particularly in Germany and Netherlands, and now Hongkong also in South Korea.

Here are the symptoms of Swine Flu:

1. onset of fever
2. muscle aches
3. headaches
4. cough
5. sometimes diarrhea and vomiting.

Flu feels far more severe than a cold.
