St. Michael Parish Church, Caramoan Peninsula

This is a hundred years old church in Caramoan Peninsula, Saint Michael Parish Church. There are so many antiques churches or I consider this as one baroque churches in Bicol Region that was build in Spanish Colonization period. Usually church was made by volcanic stone, lime and bricks. Hundreds of native Filipinos were hired to build this structure.

The church has small statues/stone sculptures of the Saints.

St. Michael, the Archangel

St. Paul the apostle, together with St. Peter are the two patron saints of the Roman Church

Caramoan was founded by a 60 year old zealous missionary, Spanish friar Francisco de la Cruz Y Oropesa in the year 1619. The Priest found a small settlement in a place called Baluarte and this settlement was turned over to the administration of the Holy Bishopric in 1696.
