New Prehistoric Crocs Was Discovered

I spent the whole afternoon reading some great facts about our nature. I have this big interest in the science thing, in fact I am a fan of Nat Geo Channel and its Magazine. God gave us the wonders of nature that we enjoy but now sadly to say, we are destroying it. As part of knowing everything around us, we have to dig and find out what it looks like way before human rule the earth. Millions of years had past, and its good to know that we are able to find pieces of bones and fossils that will unswer our questions to figure out what they look like.

One of the contributor who continue to discover things hidden underneath our land is National Geographic Team. This news is just recent--Paul Sereno, Paleontologist, University of Chicago and his team from Nat Geo, had discovered almost half a dozen fossilized remains of new species of crocs. The team tried to assembled it to see what they might look like.

The first is 20-feet long, has a triple fanged reptile dubbed Boar Croc - could gallop and it had a head and mouth that could bring down a dinosaur.

Second, Little duck croc - flat-billed with long-sleek leg bones and about 3-feet long.

Third, Pancake Croc - 20 feet long with a thin, 3-foot long set of jaws.

Fourth, Dog Croc - about 3-feet long and had a very large forebrain, possibly indicating higher intelligence, probably comfortable on land as in the water

Last, Rat Croc was about 3-feet long with a pair of buckteeth in the lower jaw to flesh out small prey.

Wow, life is tough when these guys rule the whole land. No sympathy and apathy what matter is eat, not be eaten and survive...

Exoplanets - 32 New Discovered Planets

Here is interesting news I wanna share.

Ever since we discoverd other planets aside from ours, people got so curious about them. More studies, explorations and discoveries was done, and until now, we are amazed on what we found. And yet, we hunger for more informations, about aliens or other creatures that somehow as intelligent as humans and perhaps might look like us.

Exoplanets, these are the planets outside our solar system. It is estimated that there are over 400 exoplanets in the space and 75 was found. These 75 planets are in 30 planetary systems. Last Monday, the European Southern Observatory/Center for Astrophysics, University of Porto conference in Porto, Portugal, announced that another 32 exoplanets discovered outside Earth's solar system through the use of a high-precision instrument installed at a Chilean telescope. Thanks to High Accuracy Radial Velocity Planet Searcher, or HARPS. They are the world's foremost exoplanet hunter. HARPS is a device that can detect slight wobbles of stars as they respond to tugs from exoplanets' gravity. That tactic, known as the radial velocity method, and has been the most prolific method in the search for exoplanets." In fact, HARPS also boosted the discovery of so-called super-Earths - planets with a mass a few times that of Earth. Of the 28 super-Earths known, HARPS facilitated the discovery of 24, the European Southern Observatory statement said. Most reside in multiplanet systems, with up to five planets per system.

Well, HARPS is one of the most ambitious searches ever implemented on a global basis. And yes, it is world's most productive astronomical observatory that could help us understand the diversity of the universe, how they are formed and we never know, we might find something more than these. They are just right there, waiting to be discovered.

Amelia Earhart Final Resting Place Found??

I've been watching movies that I'd never watched in theater for the past weekends. One of my favorite is The Night At the Museum 2 - Battle of the Smithsonian. This movie was released few months ago but I never got to watched this because of work load. Anyway, back to what I was saying, one character that amazed me so much is tall, slender, blonde and brave Amelia Earhart. I adore her so much for being adventurous and always looking for a challenge. In fact back in her days, its always the Men who has promising jobs and opportunities in the world and the Women are doomed to stay in the house. But as time goes by, Women had the chance to work and vote, but it’s different for Amelia. She aimed to do extreme job, a job that a man wouldn’t expect that a woman can do. She became the very first woman who had such courage and bravery to become a pilot. Unfortunately, when the time came that she attempted to cross the Atlantic (July 2, 1937), she disappeared with no trace. Until now, her death had been a mystery.

But just recently, according to researchers at The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR), Amelia had an emergency landing in a tropical island of southwestern Pacific republic of Kiribati. Author of the book "Finding Amelia," and his crew have been searching the Nikumaroro island for evidence of Earhart. It is a tiny coral atoll; in fact it is some 300 miles southeast of Earhart's target destination, Howland Island. TIGHAR would suggest that Earhart and her navigator, Fred Noonan, made a forced landing when the plane had run out of fuel and crashed on the island's smooth, flat coral reef. And eventually became castaways and died in that place.

A woman's shoe, an empty bottle and a sextant box whose serial numbers are consistent with a type known to have been carried by Noonan were all found near the site where the bones were discovered.

"The reason why they found a partial skeleton is that many of the bones had been carried off by giant coconut crabs. There is a remote chance that some of the bones might still survive deep in crab burrows" - was according to Gillespie (TIGHAR executive and author.)

Such promising news! Amelia's disappearance will not be a mystery anymore.
